Identify the Needs of Educators

Review the emerging literature on online learning as it developed in 2020.

Survey existing ARL students about their experiences, challenges, and successes as it related to online and remote instruction.

Conduct targeted interviews with teachers and instructional designers.

Pedagogy Course Support

In consultation with the course lead instructor, the project team will review existing course syllabi, Webcampus shells, and required readings. Outcomes will include suggested revisions to the syllabus, activities, and Webcampus modules. Reviews will include:

  1. Review existing course activities and identify appropriate:

    • Online information resources

    • Supporting software

  2. Review existing course content and identify:

    • Potential replacements or additions that incorporate issues related to online learning

    • Potential replacements or additions that take advantage of contemporary technologies that have proven valuable in the K-12 context

  3. Investigate the social justice implications of online learning within the course and beyond. For example:

    • Non-neutrality of technology

    • Personal reflection and online discussion

    • Critical examination of practices and tools (e.g., privacy, cyberbullying, learning management systems)

  4. Explore assessment options such as an online portfolio (within and across courses)

Graduate Conditional Licensure Certificate for Elementary Teaching

Hybrid Course Redevelopment + Online Teaching Certificate

Substantial redevelopment of one or two existing ARL courses in each level.

Add these revised courses to the existing online teaching certificate course requirements.
